The existing building is comprised of 5 different buildings built over many different time periods.

Cascading desert garden facade is conceived of as a draped veil that is pulled up to create the pedestrian opening on the ground floor. The folds and creases incorporate face lines of the adjacent buildings and downtown context - most notably the Kress buildings one of the most notable historic buildings in El Paso. 209 Mesa pickups the lines.
